Chanel Handbag
A Chanel handbag is more than a nice piece of eloquent luxury, its just as much a small part of a long fashion history.
Gabrielle Bonheur "Coco" Channel was born in a small city in France named Samuer, Maine-et-Loire, in 1883 of poor obscurity and rose to be one of the most influential pioneers for revolutionizing the fashion industry.
Her father was a traveling salesman and was born in a poorhouse where hospice pronounced her a female and recorded her birth name as Chasnel, causing her many identification problems later as she rose in the fashion world.
"Coco" Chanel as was her nickname opened her first boutique or shop in 1913 at 29 years of age where she started out making raincoats and jackets before hats and handbag lines.
Her basics philosophy which gave us the "little black dress" and "Chanel #5", can also be found in many of her early handbag designs.
Chanel developed her fist handbag line in the early 1910's as a quilted leather bag and gold chain as a shoulder strap.
Now the Chanel handbag line has expanded to beaded luxurious macrame and multi colored large vinyl tote bags.
An authentic Chanel handbag can retail for up to 2,900 dollars. The famous double reverse C logo is the trademark of Chanel found stitched or as hardware or colorful print on most any Chanel handbag.
Remember, an authentic Chanel handbag made after 1990 will be serialized.
