Company History of Louis Vuitton

Louis Vuitton Malletier, better known for the shortened version Louis Vuitton, first took began its company history as the french house of fashion on Rue Neuve des Capucines in Paris, France in 1854. Louis Vuitton began making large luggage and some handbags out of leather. The company initially made a name for itself by designing the first canvas flat bottom trunk which allowed water to repel off it when used by travelers to pack belongings for their voyages. This later gave rise to the historical discovery of the now famous monogrammed logo canvas Louis Vuitton is known for as a universal symbol of luxury and elegance.

Around 1867, other Luggage and fine bag makers began to copy the Louis Vuitton company designs very early on in history and continued throughout history. This prompted Marque L Vuitton to change his bag design to beige and brown stripped initially but soon that was copied too. In 1888 Marque Louis had to find a design style that identified his merchandise and couldn't be replicated so he changed his design to incorporate "Marque L. Vuitton deposer" on the bag itself which was the origin of the later L V logo found on authentic Louis Vuitton bags.

Louis Vuitton died shortly after this discovery in 1936, but the tradition was carried on by his son Georges Vuitton. Georges expanded the line into different styles and designs of bags gaining a worldwide following in the handbag market up until the war in 1945.

After the war, the Louis Vuitton company expanded it's line into various other forms of leather goods including small purses, clutches, wallets, and flight attendant luggage. Two examples of significantly popular designs were a small round bag called the "Papilion" and the Luis Vuitton Looping Bag, both of which are still wildly popular even today. The Sac Plat Monogram bag is another example of how Louis Vuitton incorporated it's Luis Vuitton luxury L V logo into bag design.

Today Louis Vuitton utilizes celebrities like Jennifer Lopez and Kayne West to promote its brand and stands as the 29th most valuable brand in history worldwide. Because of the constant threat of replica bags, Louis Vuitton employs an entire department of investigators and lawyers as part of their company to help control counterfeiting. It is important when shopping for authentic Louis Vuitton merchandise, to develop a good understanding of how to spot a fake.
Louis Vuitton still creates many popular modern bag design styles such as the Galleria Azur PM, and the Grandview Flea Derry.

The modern Luis Vuitton company brand is as strong as ever and throughout history has expanded its line even further to incorporate such items as Louis Vuitton pet carriers, garment bags, cigar cases, dog collars, and even fine jewelry like the Louis Vuitton Ardentes collection.
