Gucci Handbag
The Gucci Handbag has been with synonymous with class and prestige since the Gucci company's foundation in 1914. The founder Guccio Gucci, with his family of skilled leather makers, began designing not the handbag but leather horseman bags before opening his first shop in Rome in 1938.
There were handbag designs fashioned by the Gucci family as early as the 1920's, however the Gucci handbag at it is known today first surfaced in the public eye in 1947. This particular Gucci handbag had a handle made of bamboo and woven red stripe, trademark designs that are staples of Gucci handbag collections still today.
The name Gucci reached prestigious heights in the late 1940's and early 1950's as many famous stars the likes of Judy Garland, and Greta Garbo were seen sporting these elegant handbag designs.
A Gucci handbag is easily recognizable with its famous script logo and "GG" logo made to commemorate Guccio Gucci after his death in 1953. In the 1970's Gucci was run by Guccio's many sons and internal family problems brought the company to near bankruptcy in the late 1970's and early 1980's.
It wasn't until 1990 when Tom Ford was hired as the new CEO of Gucci, did the company re surge to its original prestigious appeal. Ford's famous chic 1995 Gucci handbag collection became the new trend in fashion, carried by such stars as Drew Barrymore and Madonna.
Gucci now has a diverse line of handbag models, clutches, luggage, and laptop bags and is highly regarded for its exclusive design appeal.
